Our Stories: Successful Nurse Placements

Finding the right person for the right role is what we do. These three nurses — all placed by Medcall — share their experiences working in aged care.

Maxine, Registered Nurse

Placed permanently in November 2019.

What do you love about it?

“I love the team and the interaction with the residents.”

How is aged care different from a hospital?

“In aged care, we're more responsible for people — some with very complex conditions. We make a lot of clinical decisions with less medical backup than you'd have in a public hospital. I love people and variety.”

What does it take?

“Calm, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.”

Clinical Nurse Lead, DDC

What do you love about it?

“Looking after elderly people and providing nursing services that enable them to maintain and improve their quality of life.”

What does it take?

“Patience, and being proactive. Time management. A genuine sense of caring, integrity, and respect.”

AJ, Registered Nurse

What draws you to aged care?

“Aged care residents suffer a lot. They miss their loved ones. Their bodies and minds can be frail. I like to look after them.”

What does it take?

“Leadership, caring, and dedication. Logical thinking and a good understanding of your role.”
